Maynooth University President, Professor Eeva Leinonen has congratulated over 2,000 new graduates awarded undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas in the first conferring ceremonies held at the new Technology, Society and Innovation Building.
The ceremonies are being held over three days this week, on Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th September. Ahead of the celebrations, Professor Eeva Leinonen paid tribute to the graduates as they embark on their new journey, and she saluted their accomplishment.
“I am delighted to be with you, in person, today to mark this significant milestone. Your achievements are simply extraordinary, particularly so when we look back at the disruption brought to your lives by the Covid-19 pandemic. That you are here today, despite the challenges, shows me just how resilient you are, and gives me such hope for your future and the contributions you will go on to make in our society. How apt then, that you are also the first graduating class in Maynooth’s history to have your ceremony on the North campus, in the Technology, Society and Innovation Building, signifying the new start for your lives as you leave us, and also for the wider University.”
A total of 2,174 graduates are receiving their parchments in the new Technology, Society and Innovation (TSI) Building, across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, diplomas and doctorates.
The occasion marks the first conferring ceremony for two new programmes offered: a Postgraduate Diploma in French for teaching at Post-Primary level, and Master of Education (Educational Leadership and Management).
